Dear all, hope you are well. Sorry I haven't been on much. I know so many others are suffering so much more than me and I am sorry to post. The gp phoned Fri with my bloods to tell me my liver and kidneys were failing and that I was seriously ill. I had my hosp appt on the Weds and knew things were not right. It was still a shock. Am waiting for a scan and hime to tell me more abnormal bloods tomorrow. I went out for an hour today and hosp phoned in the emantime, I have no idea what they wanted and can't call back.l So frustrating.

Has anyone else had experience of this? They think it is autoimmune as my liver function stabilised when they raised my steroids for a flare. I am finding it all a bit much.

Would appreciate any support, sorry to ask when so many others are having such a hard time.

It's all relative, Deb, so don't apologise. Your GP has given you a real scare, and not being able to speak to the Hosp is probably making it all worse. Try not to worry too much until you have spoken to them. They will keep on top of it all, and you will feel better when you know what thier plans are. I hope you got some sleep. Let us know when you do!

Hi Debbie

I'm sorry the GP told you over the phone, it was rather insensitive, and bound to make you think the worst. I hope by now you've been able to speak to him and he's put your mind at rest.

There is no need to apologise, this is what the forum is for, to share your worries and thoughts with others.

Oh Debbie! Please do not apologise, I think being told you are seriously ill qualifies you to ask for support!
We are always here to give support no matter how trivial anyone thinks their complaint is.
It must have been such a shock for you, even though you must have been feeling very unwell. I hope you managed to get some sleep last night.
Jenni should be able to help with your worries, having been through it herself.
I hope you can get some rest today and if you feel you can't wait till tomorrow to speak to your GP, ring him today and get him to explain things to you.

Sending lots of love and hugs,
Doreen xx

Hi Deb,

sorry you have had such a shock, it must have been a bit scary to be given the news over the phone. I'm glad you don't have to wait too long for the scan and pleased that Jenni has reassured you. I have had serious kidney problems (related to RA meds) but my kidney function is normal now Smile

Have a nice evening with your hubby.
Thinking of you

Oh Deb, our wonderful GP's strike again! Scared

I'm sorry worrying news was relayed in such an insensitive manner. Sounds like the hospital are on the case though and everyone is looking after you. I do hope there is positive news soon - dodgy kidneys and livers seem to go hand in hand with this RA lark but I am learning from the others that they can repair themselves. Lets hope that is the case for you.

fingers crossed

take care

Dear Deb, I just read your post.
I am so pleased that you have your husband coming home, he will be
a great support to you while this is sorted out.
I don't know much about all the different R.A meds, as I have only ever
taken Hydroxychloriquine, but I have noticed on this site that many people
have had problems due to meds and that once the medication is reviewed
the problems start to get better again.
Hoping that your sorted out promptly by the Hospital and sending you
warm thoughts,
FionaSmile

OH Debs!

I am astounded that the Dr's would scare and shock you in this manner! Surely that is wrong?

Thank God hubby is home tonight and you have been assured, you must feel terribly distressed.

Always here for you,

Love,

Amanda

Hi Debs,

What a way to be given news. Shocking!!!

I have also had similar news in the past. The fact that the scan is not being rushed through is a positive. It means that there is no way that your system is about to collapse. Jenni knows the score well so you have spoken to the best person possible.

Take care,

Eleanor x

Hi Debbie,

Sorry to hear that the hospital has been so insensitive. I'm glad you were able to have a chat with Jenni as Eleanor has said she knows the score.

The liver is a very forgiving organ and under the right circumstances tends to repair itself. I know it's easier said than done, but try not too worry too much. Although the hospital were insensitive, it sounds like they are being thorough.

Take care,

love,

Barbara

Hi Debbie,

What a horrible shock for you! I`m glad you don`t have to wait too long for the scan, and that Jenni has been able to help you. Once you`ve had the scan done, then hopefully they`ll find a way forward for you.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Hi Debbie

So glad to hear you are feeling a bit calmer about this now. I do wonder sometimes if these so called medics ever think about the effect their thoughtless remarks can have on patients.

My blood tests often come back pointing to stage 3 kidney failure (I know of several others who have this on a regular basis too) but I don't get called into the surgery, so I just carry on as normal.

Please try to enjoy the weekend with your husband.

Much love
Jeanxxxxx
